Creative photography workshops
A seismic shift occurred for the better... Andrew intuited where we were as individuals in our photographic journey and tailored his instruction and critique to each student.
Amy Touchette is a master of street photography in the busiest of all concrete jungles, New York City.
As a former newspaper travel reporter, I often took photos as part of my job. But Andrew Sullivan and Eric Mencher’s travel and iPhone workshops in my adopted hometown of San Miguel de Allende have inspired and enhanced my artistic vision in ways I hadn’t imagined. Their passionate enthusiasm, extensive experience and patient teaching methods, coupled with San Miguel’s lyrical backdrop, are an irresistible combination for any photographer.
That workshop remains one of the most memorable experiences of my life. Andrew is a remarkable photographer, an amazing teacher, a kind and generous human being and a powerful advocate for the pursuit of photography as way to engage with the world and challenge the soul.
In February, I decided to take Seek’s workshop to Guatemala, not only because it was a destination I wanted to see but because Eric & Kass Mencher were teaching. I had heard great things about Eric’s iPhone techniques, so I wanted to learn for myself. Both the instructors and the location didn’t disappoint! With Eric and Kass’ inspiration, I was able to make some of the best photos I’ve ever shot. Andrew also organized a great workshop with just the right balance between instruction and fun, while giving terrific photo pointers in the background. Every morning, our boat Taxi awaited at our dock to take us on another spectacular day of adventures and photos. After returning to San Miguel, Andrew and I decided to do a joint exhibition in a friend’s studio. With Andrew’s coaching, I learned about printing and exhibiting my work. All told, it was a great experience and hopefully the impetus to finally start my photo career!
It was a true joy to be a part of Eric Mencher’s “Theater of the Street” workshop in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, Mexico. Eric’s method of instruction and critique made it very easy for me to push myself outside of my all-too-comfortable zone.
I feel privileged to have taken SEEK’s iPhone workshop with Eric Mencher in San Miguel. As experienced and well-respected as Eric is as a photographer, he is equally, if not more so, down-to-earth, funny, curious and willing to share his technical and creative insights with his students. I came into the workshop having only used my iPhone for family snaps or to remember where I parked, and I left with knowledge and techniques that allowed me to create treasured photographs that I have on my wall. I feel like we discovered the “true” Mexico. Thank you Andrew and Eric!
I can’t say enough about Andrew, he taught me more than settings and exposure, he inspired me. Andrew is one-of-a-kind, down-to-earth and calm-natured and his giving personality made the workshop relaxed and enjoyable. I highly recommend his workshops to anyone who want to see and photograph the world in a different light.
I had the pleasure of working with SEEK instructor Andrew for 5 days and the experience changed my attitude towards every photo I take. Andrew focused on the areas I wanted to improve most and provided me with valuable techniques and feedback. I now see photography as a passion instead of just a hobby and would recommend this workshop for anyone looking to do the same.
For me, Andrew has been the greatest teacher... now I’m a professional photographer and much of the credit for this is due to him. I recommend his photography workshops to all. He’s a great teacher and a great photographer. Thank you Andrew!
